No one product finds everything using several really helps. Web, Kapersky (really, don't forget Kapersky), Avira, AVG, and one or two others let them each do a full scan. If you think you may have malware, definitely get several different BootCD/LiveCD rescue disks personally, I usually go through Dr. The safe mode works much faster, which gives me reason that it might be malware that I somehow missed. Of course, even that does not work and then I will have to force off the computer via holding the power button. If it is red, then it is trouble and I immediately try to shut down. The way I determine if the computer gonna freeze up is to open up the taskbar (by clicking on the time in the lower right hand side) and look at the Microsoft Security Essentials logo.
I can't even open up a simple document, much less run anti-malware at this point. Then the problems will happen, like windows stalling, the internet stalling, even the task manager stalling and freezing up. The computer would boot up just fine, up until a minute after my desktop (with all of the pretty icons and backgrounds) appears. It mainly started when I did a repair install of Windows a few weeks ago.
And here is the thing about my start up problems.
